Case Notes
The minister of Straiton, Mr. Johne M'Quorne asked the Presbytery's advice as to whether or not he could take a woman in Galloway named Jeane M'Murran around his parish to identify witches. He had sundry suspected witches as 'Jean took upon her the discoverie of witches throw the cuntrey.' The answer was no, because the late General Assembly had 'condemed and discharged the foirsaid practice in all tyme coming'.
